Missouri’s WIC nutrition program wants to help…

Ø Infants under 12 months old

Ø Children under 5 years of age

To be eligible in Missouri, you must:

Ø Be a resident of Missouri

Ø Meet income guidelines (see below guidelines)

Ø Be a nutrition risk

Ø Be covered on a government program such as Medicaid, TANF or Food Stamps

Benefits of WIC provided at no cost include: Nutrition education and guidance for moms and children, breastfeeding education and support, breast pumps, nutritious foods that can be purchased with cash vouchers such as, fruits and vegetables (fresh and frozen), baby food, milk substitutes (cheese, soymilk and tofu if criteria is met). Cash vouchers are issued for canned legumes/beans, canned fish for breastfeeding mothers and whole grain products such as cereals, bread, tortillas and brown rice. Cash vouchers are issued monthly, bimonthly or tri-monthly to eligible clients and are to be redeemed at contracting stores. Referrals for healthcare and resources in the community are also provided.

We have a breastfeeding peer counselor that works with women who desire to breastfeed or who are currently breastfeeding. She assists with problems and concerns and helps the mom achieve her breastfeeding goals.
